GIAP VAN TUAN (b. 1983)
Giap Van Tuan was born in 1983 in Bac Giang province, near Hanoi. His artistic practice is deeply rooted in his emotional connection to Hanoi’s Old Quarter, which serves as the primary subject of his work.
Through expressive use of color and movement, Tuan captures the evolving rhythms of the city—its narrow streets, aging architecture, tangled electric wires, and seasonal changes. Rather than documenting the city realistically, his paintings convey an intimate and poetic relationship with urban memory and personal experience.
Giap Van Tuan has participated in numerous group exhibitions in Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, and internationally, including exhibitions in Canada. His works reflect a consistent exploration of place, time, and emotional attachment to the city he calls home.
