DO QUYNH

Do Quynh (born 1982) is a Vietnamese painter from Thai Binh province. He graduated from the University of Industrial Fine Arts in 2012, majoring in Interior Design. His academic background provides him with a strong sense of spatial composition, balance, and visual structure, which is clearly reflected in his paintings.

Working primarily in oil on canvas, Do Quynh pursues a refined and restrained painterly language, combining representational imagery with expressive elements. Rather than focusing on detailed depiction, his works aim to capture the spirit and atmosphere of the subject, using color, light, and rhythmic brushstrokes to convey emotion. His surfaces are dynamic yet controlled, creating harmony between movement and stillness.

He draws inspiration from familiar themes such as floral still lifes, river landscapes, rural scenes, and the old quarters of Hanoi. His lotus and flower paintings evoke a sense of calm and purity, while his landscapes and cityscapes reflect everyday life and collective memory. Influenced by both Eastern aesthetics and Western painting traditions, his work demonstrates a continuous exploration and renewal of visual expression.

Do Quynh has participated in several regional and group exhibitions, including the Red River Delta Regional Fine Arts Exhibition in 2013 and the Hanoi Young Artists Exhibitions in 2014 and 2015, along with other group shows. He continues to develop his artistic practice, seeking to reinterpret familiar subjects through a contemporary and personal perspective.
