DANG HIEN (b. 1982)
Dang Hien was born in Hoa Binh province, northern Vietnam, in 1982. She graduated from Hanoi University of Industrial Fine Arts in 2013 and is a member of the Young Artists Club as well as the “Son Ta” lacquer art group.
Specializing in lacquer painting, Dang Hien’s work reflects a contemporary reinterpretation of traditional Vietnamese materials and techniques. Her practice emphasizes layered surfaces, subtle color relationships, and rhythmic compositions, resulting in works that are both tactile and contemplative.
She has participated in numerous group exhibitions in Vietnam and internationally, including shows at the Vietnam Fine Arts Museum, exhibitions in Seoul and Beijing, and specialized lacquer exhibitions organized by the Vietnam Fine Arts Association. Her work represents a continuous dialogue between tradition and contemporary artistic expression.
